How to avoid deformation and wear of precision product shell mold during use?

Publish Time: 2025-03-06
Precision product shell mold avoids deformation and wear during use, which is the key to ensure product quality and extend the service life of the mold.

The rationality of the structure of precision product shell mold is the basis for avoiding deformation and wear. In the design process, the strength and rigidity of the mold should be fully considered to avoid stress concentration and weak parts. By optimizing the parting surface, demoulding mechanism and runner system, the mold can move smoothly during the opening and closing process to reduce unnecessary friction and collision. At the same time, for molds with complex shapes, combined structures or insert designs should be adopted to facilitate processing and maintenance and reduce the overall deformation risk.

The quality of precision product shell mold materials has a direct impact on the wear resistance and deformation resistance of the mold. When selecting mold materials, comprehensive consideration should be given to factors such as the material of the product, production batch and the use environment of the mold. For high-precision and high-life precision product shell molds, high-performance mold steels such as P20 and 718 should be selected. After special heat treatment processes, these steels can obtain good hardness, toughness and wear resistance, effectively reducing the wear and deformation of the mold during use.

During the mold processing, advanced processing equipment and process methods should be used to strictly control the processing accuracy and surface quality. High-precision equipment such as CNC machining centers can achieve high-precision processing of mold parts and ensure the dimensional accuracy and shape accuracy of the mold. At the same time, proper surface treatment of mold parts, such as nitriding and hard chrome plating, can improve the hardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the mold surface, and further reduce the occurrence of wear and deformation.

During use, the operation should be strictly followed in accordance with the operating procedures to avoid excessive impact and extrusion of the mold. At the same time, the mold should be inspected and maintained regularly, and the dirt, debris and residual plastic chips on the mold surface should be cleaned in time to prevent these impurities from damaging the mold surface. For the key matching parts of the mold, grinding and debugging should be carried out regularly to ensure smooth opening and closing of the mold.

The mold will generate a certain amount of heat during operation. If the temperature is too high, it will cause thermal expansion and softening of the mold material, thereby reducing the hardness and wear resistance of the mold. Therefore, the working temperature of the mold should be reasonably controlled, and the mold should be cooled and cooled by the cooling system. At the same time, pay attention to the adjustment of parameters such as the flow rate, pressure and temperature of the cooling water to ensure good and uniform cooling effect.

During the use of the mold, proper lubrication can reduce the friction and wear between the mold and the plastic. The appropriate lubricant should be selected according to the material, working environment and type of plastic of the precision product shell mold. At the same time, pay attention to the application method and amount of the lubricant to ensure that the lubricant can evenly cover the mold surface to form an effective lubricating film.

Even if the above measures are taken, the mold may still be deformed and worn during use. Therefore, a mold maintenance and replacement system should be established to regularly inspect and evaluate the mold. For molds with slight deformation, they can be repaired by grinding, polishing and other methods; for molds with severe wear, they should be replaced in time to avoid adverse effects on product quality.

By reasonably designing the structure of the precision product shell mold, selecting high-quality mold materials, strictly controlling the processing accuracy and surface quality, optimizing the use and maintenance of the mold, reasonably controlling the working temperature of the mold, adopting appropriate lubrication methods, and establishing a mold maintenance and replacement system, the deformation and wear of the precision product shell mold during use can be effectively avoided, ensuring the stable improvement of product quality and production efficiency.
